About Me

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Clemson University and Master’s and Specialist’s degrees in School Psychology from the University of Georgia.

I began my career in the public school setting in Georgia and South Carolina, and later gained valuable clinical experience working as a Child and Adolescent Psychologist II for the South Carolina Department of Mental Health.

Shortly after moving to the Lowcountry, I embarked upon the adventure of homeschooling my three children, while also running a private practice tutoring children with learning difficulties. After my youngest daughter entered high school, I returned full-time to the practice of School Psychology within the private setting.

I am former Co-Owner/Director of Breakwater Associates, a multidisciplinary private practice serving the special needs of children, adolescents, and young adults in the greater Charleston area. After eleven years, my practice partner and I decided to close Breakwater in order to direct our focus on singularly providing psychoeducational evaluations and consultation. I look forward to continuing to offer my services within this solo practice setting.

I am a former Board Member and President of the International Dyslexia Association – South Carolina (IDA-SC). During my tenure, I spearheaded the first Annual Tennis for Dyslexia Social, establishing The Artis Ware, Sr. Literacy Leadership Scholarship, which provides scholarships for teacher training in Dyslexia. Additionally, I brought world-renowned speakers, in the field of Dyslexia and neuropsychological research, to South Carolina to present at regional and state conferences. While president of IDA-SC, I also served on the South Carolina Act 251 (Dyslexia Law) Learning Disorders Task Force, working toward implementing Dyslexia screening, evaluation, and intervention within South Carolina public schools. I am passionate and eager to continue to spread Dyslexia awareness so all children may learn to read.

I enjoy spending time with my husband, playing as much tennis as I can, cheering for the Clemson Tigers; practicing my Norwegian (my mother’s native language); and visiting my three adult daughters who are scattered across the country.

I am a professional member of the following organizations:

  • International Dyslexia Association (IDA)
  • International Dyslexia Association – SC (IDA-SC) – Past President 2019-2021; Board Member 2016-2019
